Council Highlights - July 2, 2026

Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 2, Lambton County Council:

  • Received the 2025 Lambton Drug and Alcohol Strategy Implementation Progress Report, highlighting activities made possible in 2025 by the collective efforts of partners.

  • Approved the Homelessness Prevention Program Investment Plan for the 2026-27 fiscal year for submission to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

  • Authorized staff to amend By-Law No. 30 of 2010 to include disclosure requirements for all provincially regulated premises under the Health Protection and Promotion Act and present those amendments to Council at its meeting on September 2, 2026 for consideration and direction.

  • Approved the Long-Term Care Division leadership and staffing enhancement proposal that aims to better support the evolving care needs of residents and the staff that provide the care.

  • Endorsed a resolution that supports the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) acting as the lead agency for Lambton County’s 2026 Rural Economic Development through Immigration application, and if successful, authorizes SLEP to work collaboratively with relevant partners to support the program.

  • Approved By-Law No. 15 of 2026, allowing County Council to temporarily delegate certain powers and duties to the Chief Administrative Officer between the dates of August 21, 2026 and November 14, 2026 in accordance with section 275 of the Municipal Act, 2001.

  • Authorized staff to proceed with the recommendations from report dated June 17, 2026 regarding Closure of the Emergency Overflow Shelter – Expansion at the Inn of the Good Shepherd as approved at the June 17 Committee of the Whole meeting.

  • Approved the temporary closure of the Bright’s Grove Library to facilitate the City of Sarnia’s expansion and renovation of the facility, and adjust the hours at
    neighbouring libraries to meet expected increased demand serving Bright’s Grove residents, during the construction period.

  • Approved the minutes of the Audit Committee meeting on June 17, 2026.

Council will next meet at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The meeting will begin with a Closed Session, if necessary, followed immediately by the Open Session.
