Council Highlights - March 4, 2026
Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 4, Lambton County Council:
- Heard presentations from:
- Mr. Gary Eagleson, P.Ag., G. R. Eagleson Consulting Inc., regarding the elimination of Class 1, 2 and 3 cropland in Southern Ontario.
- Mr. Rod Catford regarding blowing and drifting snow on roads and road maintenance.
- Finalized the County of Lambton’s 2026 Tax Policy and maintained the Property Tax Ratios for all Classes and Sub-Classes except for:
- The Property Tax Class Ratio for the Multi-Residential Property Class be reduced to 1.950000.
- The Property Tax Class Ratio for the Landfill Property Class be reduced to 25.000000.
- Agreed that any future housing project at 718 Cathcart Boulevard in the City of Sarnia be owned and operated by the County of Lambton as rent geared-to-income housing (affordable housing) as supported by the Community Consultation Report delivered by Bryan Boyle & Associates.
- Authorized staff to enter into a Border Coverage Agreement with Medavie Chatham/Kent EMS to provide reciprocal service to each other’s communities.
- Accepted the October 1 to Dec. 31, 2025, Libraries Donations Report.
- Accepted the Museums, Gallery and Archives Collections Management report for December 2025.
- Authorized the Chief Administrative Officer to review the management structure of the Finance, Facilities and Acquisitions Division and its position within the County’s divisional structure on a trial basis for the remainder of 2026. A report will be returned to County Council by the end of 2026 with recommendations for consideration.
Council will next meet at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026. The meeting will begin with a Closed Session, if necessary, followed immediately by the Open Session.
