Council Highlights - November 26, 2025
Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, November 26, Lambton County Council:
- Met in closed session, pursuant to s. 239(2)(k) of the Municipal Act, 2001, to:
- Discuss negotiations between the County and Stones ‘N Bones Museum and the City of Sarnia for the potential acquisition and display of museum materials.
- Receive a report and provide instructions regarding negotiations for the leasing of facilities between the County, St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia-Lambton, and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
- Recognized donors who have made generous contributions to County programs, services, and facilities over the past year, including The Lodge, Villa, and Manor Auxiliaries, Dieter Wolff, Imperial Oil Ltd., Milton Winberg, and Judith J.Craig.
- Heard a presentation from Sarah Reaume, CEO of Community Futures Lambton, regarding BizLink, a program that will help business owners who are ready to sell and aspiring entrepreneurs looking to buy to connect anonymously and confidentially through the offer of customized supports.
- Approved the 2026-2031 Accessibility Plan.
- Adopted the 2025 Corporate Asset Management Plan and recommended the creation of the Life Cycle Maintenance – Capital Investment Reserve in the 2026 County Budget.
- Accepted the July 1 to September 30, 2025 Libraries Donations Report.
- Accepted the Museums, Gallery and Archives Collections Management September 2025 Report, and approved the recommended items for inclusion in the respective permanent collections.
- Approved the 2026 Council and Committee Meeting schedule.
- Received update reports from the Social Services Division regarding affordable housing, Maxwell Park Place development, Ontario Works, and Housing Services statistics.
- Appointed Karen Bettridge as Treasurer, effective January 1, 2026, following the retirement of current Treasurer, Larry Palarchio.
- Referred the City of Sarnia’s request for an additional cost recovery funding for its Planning & Development Services department to 2026 Budget deliberations, and requested that County staff bring a report to the February 2026 County Council meeting regarding options for shared planning services between the County and the City of Sarnia.
- Agreed to send a letter to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks and the Ontario Premier, requesting that the Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency and the proposed changes to Conservation Authorities in Ontario be put on hold to permit more municipal input on the proposals.
- Asked staff to request an update from the Ministry of Transportation regarding their plans for managing and enforcing transport trucks detouring off Highway 402 and onto County roads to avoid traffic backups.
Council will next meet at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 for budget deliberations. The meeting will begin with a Closed Session, if necessary, followed immediately by the Open Session.
