County of Lambton celebrates completion of Maxwell Park Place housing units
Sarnia, ON – Local government officials and County of Lambton Social Services staff gathered last week for a ribbon cutting ceremony and building tour to celebrate the completion of 24 new housing units at Maxwell Park Place.
The newly completed units are part of the County’s ongoing efforts to address the growing need for affordable and supportive housing in the community.
Built as an extension to the existing Maxwell Park Place building, the project also includes six units that will be managed under March of Dimes Canada to support individuals living with disabilities.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who played a role in bringing this project to completion. Their shared commitment to accessible and affordable housing is helping to ensure that seniors and vulnerable residents in our community have a safe place to call home”, said Warden Kevin Marriott.
The remaining units will be offered to existing affordable housing tenants in the County, helping to create movement within the housing system and support broader community housing needs. The first lease signing took place today, beginning the process of residents moving into the newly renovated units.
“We’re proud to see this extension completed and to welcome its future new residents. The addition of these 24 units will continue to strengthen our ability to respond to local housing needs”, said Melisa Johnson, Manager, Housing Services.
