Lambton Works Centre to host free Work Local. Live Better. Business and Career Expo in Petrolia

Petrolia, ON – In partnership with the Town of Petrolia, the Lambton Works Centre (LWC) will host its second Work Local. Live Better. Business and Career Expo on Thursday, May 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Recreation Centre in Petrolia.

The first free expo was held in Watford last year, with a vision to rotate the event through rural Lambton County communities to showcase local services, employment opportunities, and community resources.

“This event reflects the Lambton Works Centre’s people-centered approach to workforce and community development”, said Lisa Jacaruso, Program Supervisor, Employment Services. “By bringing together job seekers, employers, and community partners in one space, the event is designed to encourage and strengthen meaningful connections across Lambton County”.

Onsite, attendees will have the opportunity to explore different careers using the LWC’s new virtual reality (VR) career exploration system. The LWC will also host door prizes, giveaways, and an information table highlighting Better Jobs Ontario.

Job seekers who would like to prepare in advance are encouraged to attend the LWC’s Stand Out! Connect! Get Hired! workshop on May 21 at the Lambton Shared Services Centre at 162 Lochiel Street, Sarnia. A second workshop will be offered on May 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Greenwood Recreation Centre prior to the Expo opening.

This Employment Ontario project is funded in part by the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and the Windsor Regional Employment Network.
