Two new summer exhibitions at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery

Sarnia, ON – The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG) is pleased to announce two new exhibitions which highlight local artist, Mark Stebbins and celebrates the distinct practices and enduring friendship of artists Aganetha Dyck, Reva Stone and Diana Thorneycroft.

The Lingering Instant presents Stebbins’s new painting, reaffirming the artist’s sustained commitment to materiality and the hand-made. At close range, each surface reveals a meticulous construction of thousands of individual strokes or dollops of paint, accumulating into images of quiet intensity. Audiences will have the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the artist’s practice and inspiration during a free artist talk on Saturday, June 6 at 11:30 a.m. Registration required.

Together Apart | Under One Roof artists have been studio neighbors in Winnipeg for over 30 years. Central themes of the show include feminist art practice, the creative power of relationships, and the interplay between human and non-human. This exhibition also includes an artist talk on Saturday, May 2 at 11:30 a.m., offering visitors a chance to engage directly with the artists and their work.

A Members Reception with artists in attendance will take place on First Friday, May 1 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. For information on how to become a gallery member, please contact Yesenia Samuel at 519-336-8127.
