Local Elevated Risk Area Identified for Lyme diseasePoint Edward, ON – Lambton Public Health has identified the Pinery Provincial Park and 20 km surrounding area including Pork Franks as a high-risk area for Lyme disease due to the increased blacklegged tick population and the number of ticks positive for the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Lambton Public Heath has been using active surveillance techniques to identify risk areas.

Fixed Site COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics to Wind Down in AprilPoint Edward, ON – Due to a significant decrease in demand, Lambton Public Health (LPH) will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations but will be closing down the mass community clinics in Point Edward, Forest and Wyoming at the end of March. The last scheduled mass vaccination clinics will be held on March 29 at the Point Edward Optimist Hall and March 31 at the Wyoming Fairgrounds.

Flood Conditions Pose a Risk for Well WaterPoint Edward, ON – Lambton Public Health encourages residents with private wells to test their water supply as soon as possible if their well has flooded.
Recent high-water levels and flood conditions caused by rain could allow harmful bacteria to enter the drinking water supply, rendering the water supply unsafe for consumption.

Rabies Vaccination ClinicsPoint Edward, ON – After a two year hiatus, several low-cost rabies vaccination clinics will be held across Lambton County beginning in April and continuing into May.
The clinics are open to all cats and dogs, three (3) months of age and older.

Implementing Age-Friendly Best Practices into Your Workplace Launches in Sarnia-LambtonPoint Edward, ON – To support the largest growing demographic in Lambton County, adults 55 and older, Lambton Public Health partnered with Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton and the Older Adult Care Pathway Steering Committee to develop an age-friendly e-learning certificate course.
The Age-Friendly Best Practice for Businesses and Service Providers course is a result of the Inclusive Communities Grant from the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility received in 2021.
