    Sarnia, ON - Today, more than 12,500 Lambton County students, led by 201 at Bosanquet Public School in Thedford, celebrated healthy food choices at school with a Great Big Crunch.

    The synchronized crunch of fresh, local apples showcased the importance of healthy eating and highlighted the role of the Student Nutrition Program to provide healthy food choices.

  • Building an integrated community care model for Sarnia-Lambton

    Sarnia, ON - Thanks to a $591,300 grant from the Ontario Health and Well-Being Grant Program, Lambton Public Health (County of Lambton), and its community partners are planning to create an age-friendly community.

    The two-year project will strengthen and build community support and health services identified in the Age-Friendly Sarnia Community Action Plan.

  • International Walk to School Day - October 3, 2018

    Sarnia, ON - When it comes to personal health and school success, ParticipACTION® says "Canadian kids are sitting too much and moving too little to reach their full potential."

    Authors of the recent ParticipACTION® report - 'Canadian kids need to move more to boost their brain health' - found that adding more physical activity to kids’ routines "could be the missing part of the equation in support of their success in the classroom, on the field and with their friends.

  • First human case of West Nile Virus 2018

    Point Edward, ON - A Lambton County resident has tested positive for the West Nile virus (WNV).

    This is the first lab confirmed human case of the virus in Lambton in 2018.

  • Mosquitos and ticks still active

    Point Edward, ON - Even though summer is winding down, Lambton Public Health reminds Lambton County residents that mosquitoes and ticks are still active and precautions are needed to protect against the risk of West Nile virus (WNV) and Lyme disease.

    "Mosquitoes will continue breeding until we see frost and cold temperatures, and tick activity will only slow down once we see consistent cold temperatures below freezing," says Lori Lucas, Health Protection Supervisor at Lambton Public Health.
